For anyone who is interested in a supervisory role, this two half-day course provides a general overview of what it's like to be a new supervisor in the public sector.  This class will provide information to help you successfully navigate the transition and discuss the challenges that come with being a new supervisor.

By the end of the class, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize steps to effectively move from buddy to boss.
  • Apply the appropriate leadership and communication styles to match various employee circumstances.
  • Comprehend the cycle to effectively manage employee performance.
  • Identify potential legal issues that require notification to HR.

Note: This course is recommended to employees who are interested in going into a supervisory role or are new supervisors.  Current managers and supervisors are encouraged to take the “Essential Management Skills in the Public-Sector” Certificate Program.
